Savalia is an uncommon last name for people of the patel caste in Gujarat, from the Saurasthra province of India. Many members of this large and prestigious family have immigrated to the United States. One of the largest branches of this family currently resides in southern California, and is heavily involved in entrepreneurial business. One of the earliest immigrants to the United States, Babulal A. Savalia, is credited with extensive community work in the United States as well as India. As the patriarch of this particular branch of the family, he remains dedicated to preserving a sense of Gujarati culture amongst the younger generations.
