Sauron

  • Sauron is a fictional character from J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth fantasy writings. He is the titular Lord of the Rings against whom the protagonists of that book struggle.
  • Sauron is a fictional character, a supervillain in the Marvel Comics universe. He is an energy vampire who resembles a humanoid pterodactyl.

  • Sauron is a planet in the CoDominium universe, possibly named after the Lord of the Rings character (both in real life and in universe) as well as the race of militant, genetically-improved people from that planet. In the collaborative War World stories, Sauron refugees invade the world of Haven and establish a new home there. The conflicts among the original inhabitants and between them and the Saurons form the basis for the story line of the various books.
  • Sauron is also a planet in the shareware game Escape Velocity, by Ambrosia Software. As a number of planets in the game are named after planets from other fictional universes, it is likely that Escape Velocity's Sauron is named after the CoDominium planet mentioned above.
  • Sauron is also a genus of spiders in the Linyphiidae family.
  • Sauron is the name of the ex-vocalist from the Polish death metal band Decapitated
