Saul Weprin

Saul Weprin (August 5, 1927-February 11, 1994) is the former Speaker of the New York State Assembly.

He was born in Brooklyn and practiced law much of his life.
[edit] Political Life
He represented a district in the Queens borough of New York City. Weprin pushed the first gay rights bill through the Assembly.

He died at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Queens at the age of 66 from complications resulting from a stroke.

After his death, his son Mark won his former seat, and remains in the Assembly to this day. His son David is a member of the New York City Council. His oldest son, Barry, is an attorney in New York.
