Saul Karath

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Admiral Saul Karath was an Admiral of the Old Republic fleet, who served under Revan and Malak during the Mandalorian Wars. He makes his appearance in the LucasArts published video game: Knights of the Old Republic, where he has a supporting role as one of Darth Malak's assistant.

Saul Karath taught Carth Onasi everything that he knew about being a soldier. Saul had a brilliant mind, leading the Republic to many victories against the Mandalorians. When Revan and Malak ventured into the unknown regions, to destroy the last remnants of the Mandalorians, Saul went with them.

When Revan and Malak returned they were Lords of the Sith, and started the Jedi Civil War. Saul returned to talk to Carth about how the Republic was on the losing side of the conflict, and how Carth should start thinking about his own survival. Unknown to Carth, Saul was trying to recruit him into the Sith. Carth refused to betray the Republic, and Saul left to join the Sith.

To prove himself a follower of the Sith, Saul gave Darth Revan and Darth Malak the codes to by-pass the Telos--Carth's Homeworld--planetary defences. Revan and Malak took an invasion fleet to Telos, and demanded it's immediate surrender. The planet refused, and Saul went on to devastate its entire surface. Millions died and the planet eventually became a wasteland where no living thing could grow. Carth's wife was on Telos and was killed, and, unknown to Carth, the Sith captured his only son, Dustil Onasi.

When Saul staged a clever trap to capture Revan, Carth, Bastila, and their companions, he interrogated them using more than just words. Saul was not interrogating them: He was torturing them, and for his own delight.

Saul was killed by Carth on the Leviathan's bridge, during Revan's escape. Saul even used his last words to hurt Carth; telling Carth that his companion was actually Darth Revan.
