Sauce bearnaise syndrome

Sauce bearnaise syndrome is a type of psychological reinforcement in which the subject becomes nauseated by the taste, smell or even thought of a particular food or drink because, on a previous occasion, the subject became ill after consuming it, even though the illness may have occurred several hours after ingesting the food. The association was named by psychologist Martin Seligman based on his own experience with Bearnaise sauce and is notable for the delay between the associated events. This phenomenon is also referred to as Conditioned Taste Aversion.
