Saturday Night and Sunday Morning is a British novel by Alan Sillitoe (his second, published in 1958).
It was adapted by Sillitoe into a 1960 film starring Albert Finney, directed by Karel Reisz, and in 1964 was adapted by David Brett as a play for the Nottingham Playhouse, with Ian McKellen playing one of his first leading roles.[1].
ITV is planning a new version of the book for 2007, adapted by BAFTA winning writer Danny Brocklehurst. Alan Sillitoe totally supports the new version which is rumoured to star Max Beesley.
