Sarva is a rarely used name of Lord Śiva who is commonly known as the destroyer in the Hundu pantheon. However, to some Hindus, Śiva is the highest form of Godhead and the creator as well as the destroyer.

Sarva is a sanskrit word meaning all or everything.

Perhaps it seems presumptious to name myself everything, much less to name myself after a God. But Hindu theology is clear on this point: Śiva and Jiva are one. That is, Lord Śiva and the embodied soul (Jiva) are one substance, not separate. That is consciousness which is a fundamental constituent of the universe, and it is responsible for it's creation. So, the individual is one with and inseparable from the entire universe, and Lord Śiva is eternally one with and in consort with the universe.

According to Hindu scripture (Tantra Shastra, specifically) Śiva is pure, unlimited being, consciousness and bliss. The higest goal of the individual aspirant is to realize oneness with this eternal Self so the ego, i.e. the small, embodied, individuated self, can be diminished as it is recognized to be illusory. Through this process of realization the individual manages to cope with the traumas of old age, suffering and death by not identifying with the body and learning to accept them as a part of a larger scheme. Ultimately, this realization encourages the individual to see death as a natural transformation, even an opportunity akin to the metamorphosis of a caterpiller into a butterfly.

This is where I'm at, at the moment, trying realize, to actualize. Knowledge doesn't make that possible, but it's impossible without it!

I hope to contribute to Wikipedia because I have found it informative and very useful on many occassions. You can go to [[[[iconimago]]]][1] if you would like to see some of my art work. Iconimago is an alter-ego of mine, as is Sarva.
