Sarah Lane is cool, I think it is funny what she did. Sarah is the coolest!

maybe i am out of the loop....is the Sarah Lane article for real? It looks like a joke to me, but then I looked at the page history. It has been around for a while, and names i recognize have edited it. what is the story of Sarah Lane? Kingturtle 07:45, 5 Nov 2003 (UTC)

We don't usually write about the history of Wikipedia in the main namespace. Move it to meta. But yes, it's for real. We had a huge number of imitators vandalising monkeypox. We had a protection/unprotection war -- some editors thought the newcomers should be welcome, others thought they should meet resistance when they try to vandalise things. -- Tim Starling 07:54, Nov 5, 2003 (UTC)
Sarah Lane, demoing Wikipedia on TV, thought it would be a bright idea to demonstrate a bit of vandalism, inserting "Just a test" into the "monkeypox" article see the diff on 11 Jun 2003 at 22:53. Twelve seconds later at 23:05, someone else reverted it see the diff. Her twelve seconds of fame, though, inspired a lot of imitation and the article had to be locked for a bit. I'm not sure it belongs in her article anymore, it really is a footnote. -- Someone else 07:59, 5 Nov 2003 (UTC)
Sheesh. Sarah Lane should have gone to The Screen Savers and added pertinent information. In a word, it was lame of her to demonstrate mindlessness instead of demonstrating a desire to create something useful. Kingturtle 08:03, 5 Nov 2003 (UTC)

[edit] "Sarah Lane on Wikipedia" section

I've removed this section. While I recognize that it might have been an interesting minor event for Wikipedia fans, it's far from important outside of Wikipedia, so it's inclusion here is completely self-referential, which we try to avoid (see Wikipedia:Avoid self-references). Look at it this way - was that stunt she pulled on a single one of the many shows she's certainly done actually an important event in her life? I don't think so. I heard Sarah is engaged to Brendan Moran. Anyone?...

I call bullshit. There was no mention of her ending her relationship with Kevin Rose so why would she be dating another on-air personality? I mean, she is already a blood sucking leech and a blight of humanity, but damn... once is more than enough. 65.145.212.238 06:24, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
I dunno. There have been a bunch of pictures on her website of her and Brendan looking awfully cuddly with each other.
She was wearing what looked like an engagement ring on tonight's (1/18/2006) Attack of the Show episode!

Since her typepad entry was on April 1, I'm assuming it's an April Fool's joke, and I'm removing the text claiming she's engaged from the article -Volfy 21:02, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

It's not an April Fool's Day joke she is married to Brendan Moran and they have a website called The Morans. She's already explicitly mentioned that although the announcement fell on April 1st, the announcement is real. Highway 22:32, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

The article lists her birth year as 1969 (she doesn't look 36 to me) but the category below has her tagged as a '1976 birth,' which seems closer the mark. When was she actually born? C.J. 02:48, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

IMDB puts her birth year as 1976. [1] I also believe I've seen that elsewhere. iKato 11:42, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Sarah's birthdate is October 12, 1976 --- her birthday is 1 week after Morgan Webb's. Highway 19:32, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
