Sarntal (German) or Sarentino (Italian) is a comune (municipality) in the South Tyrol in the Italian region Trentino-South Tyrol, located about 70 km northeast of Trento and about 15 km north of Bolzano. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 6,671 and an area of 302.3 km2.[1]

The municipality of Sarntal contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Sarentino, Valdurna, San Martino, Boscoriva, Riobianco, Pennes, Campolasta, Villa, Corvara, Sonvigo, Agratsberg, Auen, Dick, Essensberg, Gebracksberg, Gentersberg, Glern, Kandelsberg, Muls, Vanga Bassa, Öttenbach, Putzen, Riedelsberg, Steet, Trienbach, Vormeswald, and Windlahn.

Sarntal borders the following municipalities: Hafling, Freienfeld, Klausen, Franzensfeste, Mölten, Ratschings, Ritten, Jenesien, St. Leonhard in Passeier, Schenna, Vahrn, Vöran, and Villanders.
