Sardar Rasool Mir hails from the tribal area of Jaglote and he is also the chieftain of his own tribe popularly known as the Mirs of Jaglote.He is a popular political figure of northern areas.He was elected as youngest member of the northern areas council 1975.He had been a staunch advocate of the rights of the people of northern areas ,for which he kept his struggle alive under different political and military regimes of Pakistan.No temtation or threat was able to move him away from his goal of liberty,social justice and implementaion of islamic laws..His role in bringing sectarian harmony had also been hailed by all sects.
