  • Sarai is Persian for a house. In Turkic Sarai means palace. This word was loaned by Russian (сарай) during the period of Mongol yoke with an opposite meaning shed. In Hebrew, Sarai, means My Princess. In Urdu and Hindi, it means a place where travellers meet and exchange views. Places in Delhi, named after the Hindi/Urdu meaning of Sarai include:
