Sarah Lee Brown Fleming

Sarah Lee Brown Fleming (1875-1963) was a Black educator, social and community activist and the first Black teacher in the Brooklyn school system.
Her most notable published work is the novel Hope's Highway (1918). It is a tale of racial uplift in which, education and integrity persevere over racism and despair.
