Saqqaq

Saqqaq (old spelling Sarqaq) is a settlement (founded 1755) in the Municipality of Qasigiannguit , Greenland. Population (January 2005) is 180. Approximate location is 70°01′N 51°57′W. Immediately northeast of Saqqaq is the Livets Top (1150 m).

Archaeological excavations west of the settlement revealed the existence of an ancient Inuit culture later named the Saqqaq culture that inhabited the area between 2900 and 4400 years ago.
