SAP Business Connector
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
SAP Business Connector (also known as "SAP BC") is a re-branded version of webMethods Integration Server provided by SAP as a middleware solution for their R/3 product. It was the result of a partnership between webMethods and SAP in order to provide an integration platform capabilities to SAP.
The role of the SAP business connector was to provide XML/web services type integration with SAP (as the platform had no similar capabilities). It was also commonly used for B2B communication routes as it provided a separation of concerns between SAP and the partner communication needed in B2B interaction.
SAP has since developed its own integration/middleware product so the SAP business connector product line is no longer under development. In response to the split webMethods has created the webMethods for SAP as a continuation for SAP customers wishing to continue using webMethods technology for middleware/B2B integration.
