[edit] Summary
I believe one element of this summary is incorrect. I am going to insert an edit.
The timing is off. Sandy's baseball career ended in 1960, by which time Castro was already in power and had begun his major land reform program. And I doubt this African-Cuban man came from the moneyed class or ever made much money as a ballplayer, let alone enough to be a man of property.
