Santa Bárbara (Ponta Delgada)

Santa Bárbara (Portuguese for Saint Barbara) is a parish in the district of Ponta Delgada in the Azores. The population in 2001 is 880, its density is 101.0/km² and the area is 8.71 km². It is located in the northwestern part of the island of São Miguel and is connected by roads linking Mosteiros and Ribeira Grande. The mountains which are covered with lovely laurisilva trees are to the southwest while the Atlantic Ocean lies to the northeast. The main industry are agriculture. Farmlands dominate within the coastline while the mountainous areas cover the rest of Santa Bárbara. is accessed with a bus route linking to Ponta Delgada.
