Santa Ana Maya

Santa Ana Maya is a small municipality in the state of Michoacán, Mexico that borders the states of Guanajuato, and Lake Cuitzeo. Several small towns pertain to it: Huacao, La Lobera, El Cuervo, Rancho Nuevo, La Ladera, Potzundareo, San Rafael, El Toronjo, La Mesa Rica, La Colonia, and the largest is the town of Santa Ana Maya. Santa ana maya's population origens are pre-hispanic ,and was called Sitquije(wich means fertile soil).Later changed its name to santa ana Sitquije. Subsequently the town changed its name to santa ana maya without knowing why or when was the precise time of this event. Santa ana maya's more important headings of capital are, immigration ,farming, carpentry,and others with less importance.Out of the last three just mentioned, immigration is by far the most important, counting with about 80 to 90 porcent of all the money going to the town. It's main attractions are the two fairs,one is celebrated on the month of febrary(9 to 19),and the other is on the month of july(17 to 26 ).
