[edit] Synopsis

In this film, the viewer discovers that the Santa Claus we loved when growing up is in fact the evil spawn of Satan, of a second immaculate conception to a fictional character Erica. After Santa loses a curling match with an angel, he is required to do only good for 1,000 years. However, after 1,000 years pass, Santa is ready to seek revenge on the angel (and everyone who stands in his way). Santa pilots a sleigh powered by a single white buffalo which he calls his 'Hell Deer'. The sleigh is Viking inspired, as is Santa's hat. This movie is filled with various acts of humorous violence such as: jamming kitchen knives through a man's hands, kicking a dog into a ceiling fan, knocking a woman over the head with a piece of wood, choking a man to death on turkey leg, drowning a woman in egg nog, setting a person's hair on fire, forcibly jamming a menorah through a Jewish man's neck, setting fire to a strip club, running an elderly man over with a reindeer, stabbing a bouncer, hitting a minister, throwing explosive presents at a couple of minors, electrocuting citizens, stabbing candy canes into a pedestrian's eye, strangling a man with a wreath, destroying the town square's Christmas tree, killing all the workers of a police station, and running an elderly woman off of the road.

The opening scene shows Santa coming down the chimney and breaking through the fireplace to find a family eating a holiday dinner. Santa murders the entire family including Fran Drescher, James Caan, and Chris Kattan. The family dog, Scribbles, is murdered after Santa punts her into a ceiling fan. Drescher, Caan and Kattan are not seen for the rest of the movie. Caan is not credited for his role as Darren Mason.

The story of how Santa lost the curling match to the angel are told in a stop-motion animation style, typical of many Christmas movies, such as Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

Emilie de Ravin also stars in the movie, and during the credits, epilogues of each of the characters are shown, it says that Emilie's character went on a plane and got lost, which is reference to her character Claire Littleton on the TV series Lost.

The cast also included—Alicia Lorén & Annie M. Sorell—twin actresses, most famous for their shower scene in Cruel Intentions 2, Dave Thomas, known from SCTV and the third season of Arrested Development as the very 'naughty' minister, and Saul Rubinek, star of various television shows as the deli shop owner.

[edit] Religious themes and symbols

  • Santa is supposedly born of an immaculate conception from Satan and "the virgin Erica", referring to it as the second of only two immaculate conceptions, "the first being Christ of God and the Virgin Mary.
  • Bill Goldberg is Jewish, as is Saul Rubinek. Saul's character, Mr. Green, is a Jewish deli shop owner.
  • The opening scene has Santa (Goldberg) slaughtering the family over their Christmas dinner. It is an ironic scene, as the major recognizeable actors cameoing in the scene (Goldberg, James Caan, Fran Drescher, Chris Kattan) are all Jewish (and thus not Christian) in real life. The only "famous face" in the scene not ethnically Jewish is Rebecca Gayheart, and the other two actresses were not famous at the time the movie was released. It is arguable whether Gayheart was as "famous" as the other "famous faces" who cameoed in that scene.
  • A menorah is seen in the deli shop, and is used by Santa to murder Mr. Green.
  • Dave Thomas is a minister at a chapel. He spends the offering money on strippers at a strip club.
  • The origin of day of Christmas is fabricated in this movie to be a day of sanctuary from Santa. The Christians would stay in the church on the one day Santa was allowed on earth, December 25th, and would have a 'mass of Christ' to have God protect them.
