Sant

  • Sant a term that is used in India and is used for the bhakti saint poets of the Marathi and Hindi speaking areas. [1] It is derived from the Sanskrit sat, its root meaning being "one who knows the truth". It differs from the false cognate "Saint" as it is often translated. See Sant Mat. Well known people to whom the title is applied include Sant Kirpal Singh and Sant Baljit Singh.
  • Sant can refer to Maltese nobility. See Sant Cassia.
  • Sant is a surname on the islands of Malta. The Leader of the Opposition is Alfred Sant
  • Sant is a surname in deshastha brahmins. Strangely it is present in both types of deshastha brahmins i. e. Rigvedi and Yajurvedi. Famous poet maker Indira Sant is rigvedi brahmin.
