Sandra Bacon

Sandra 'Sandy' Bacon is a character in the Sweet Valley High book series.

Sandy was introduced as the lifelong best friend of popular cheerleader Jeannie West. She tried out for the cheerleading squad against Annie Whitman and despite falling during her routine made it onto the team. Sandy, like most of the cheerleading squad, were introduced in SVH#10, "Wrong Kind of Girl".

Unlike Jeannie, Sandra was a member of Pi Beta Alpha. (The plotline of SVH#30, "Jealous Lies".) When Jeannie announced her intention to pledge, Sandy panicked, fearing that she would lose Jeannie's friendship once she was in. She nearly succeeded in sabotaging her pledge tasks but, guilt ridden, she confessed and Jeannie was given special consideration.

When Sandy began dating Manuel Lopez, she had to hide the relationship from her parents, as they held prejudicial beliefs about Mexicans. She was forced to admit to the affair when Manuel was accused of causing an accident and she was his alibi. The Bacons came to accept Manuel.
