Sand Mountain (Alabama)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sand Mountain is a large plateau in Northeastern Alabama and Northwestern Georgia which is a part of the southern tip of the Appalachian mountain chain. Geologically a continuation of Walden Ridge, Sand Mountain is part of the Cumberland Plateau, separated from the main portion of the plateau by the Tennessee River and Sequatchie Valley which from a geological perspective, includes northeast Alabama's Tennessee River Valley as well as Browns Valley south of Guntersville.

Sand Mountain includes parts of Jackson County, DeKalb County, Marshall County, Etowah County and Blount County Alabama as well as parts of Dade County Georgia.
