Sanbu, Chiba

Sanbu (山武町 -machi) is a town located in Sanbu District, Chiba, Japan, which is now part of the city of Sanmu. Note that the city name is pronounced differently from the town name even though they are written with the same Japanese characters.

As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 19,776 and a density of 379.94 persons per km². The total area is 52.05 km².

On March 27, 2006 the new city of Sanmu was formed by the merger of the towns of Sanbu, Naruto, Hasunuma and Matsuo.
