As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Sanawad had a population of 34,131. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Sanawad has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 62%. In Sanawad, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Its a small town having no odds of metros.. NO pubs, no discos, night life means nothing, its only day time and evening when people are active here. The lifeline is considered to be the nearby city Indore on which most of the population depends for bussiness and other basic needs. The town has a Government Polytechnic College of diploma, a govt degree college for commerce and science , a private college of science.There is a wellknown educational institute, Saraswati Vidhya Mandir, serving for eucation & cultre.
The local economy of Sanawad is based mainly around Agriculture and Trading. The main crop of the currounding region are Cotton, Wheat and Soyabean. Sanawad is located very near to Narmada river (around 7 KM), 60 KM from Indore and 50 KM from Khargone the district headquarters and 12 KM from Barwaha which is the Tehsil.
