San Juan de Nicaragua

San Juan de Nicaragua, formerly known as San Juan del Norte, is a municipality in the Río San Juan department of Nicaragua.

The town was briefly under British control in the mid-19th century. The capital city of the municipality is the town of Greytown.

While supporting the Contras in the 1980s, U.S. forces attacked San Juan de Nicaragua on April 9, 1984.[1]
