San Giovanni a Porta Latina
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
San Giovanni a Porta Latina (Saint John's at the Latin Gate) is a basilica church near the Porta Latina (on the Via Latina) of Rome's Aurelian Wall.
Founded in the 5th century, it was rebuilt in 720 and restored (including a new bell-tower and new frescoes of 46 biblical scenes) in 1191, and then again in the late 20th century. The medieval portico and basilica are supported by re-used classical columns.
