San Francisco FC was founded in 1971 and has participated in ANAPROF since the league was created. However, the club was originally called Club Deportivo La Provisora and originally played in La Liga Distritorial de Fútbol de La Chorrera. The club's current name is derived from the patron saint of the District of La Chorrera, San Francisco de Paula.
