The San Francisco Board of Supervisors is the governing body for the City and County of San Francisco. Its eleven elected members pass legislation and establish the annual budget for city departments. Each member presides over one of eleven geographic districts within the city.[1] The term of office is four years, and elections are being held in 2006 for the even-numbered districts (2, 4, 6, 8 and 10). Candidates are selected through ranked-choice voting.[2]
