Mount Circeo Italian Monte Circeo, Latin Circaeum Promontorium, isolated promontory, Latina provincia, Lazio (Latium) regione, on the southwestern coast of Italy on the Tyrrhenian Sea, just northwest of the Gulf of Gaeta. It consists of a conspicuous ridge of limestone, 3.5 miles (6 km) long by 1 mile (1.6 km) wide, rising to a height of 1,775 feet (541 m) and connected with the mainland by a low saddle of alluvial deposits. About 33 square miles (86 square km) are preserved.
