[edit] Operators

  • San Diego Transit Corporation - buses and former streetcar operator. Merged into Metropolitan Transit System as of 2004, and in 2005 a new red and white color scheme was introduced that will be applied to both systems. To this day, most San Diego Transit buses retain their old lettering. Old SDTC routes are numbered 1-210 and are operated directly by SDTC employees.
  • Metropolitan Transit System - buses (800 and 900 series) and San Diego and Arizona Eastern Railway Company. Took over the County Transit System (800-series routes) in 2002, and San Diego Transit in 2004. 800 and 900 series MTS bus routes are outsourced to private contractors, namely Veolia Transport, Laidlaw, and Coach USA.
  • San Diego Trolley Incorporated - trolleys (light rail)
  • North County Transit District - buses and regional trains
  • San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG)
  • Coaster commuter rail service
