San Cristóbal a city in the Dominican Republic province of San Cristóbal, founded in the late 16th century. The first Dominican constitution was signed there in 1844, and Rafael Trujillo, president/dictator from 1930 to 1961, was born there in 1891. Trujillo built many monuments in san cristobal, such as La Toma, to honor himself. It had a population of 88,376 as of July 1993.
