Luis Miguel Sanchez Cerro was a President of Peru and a high-ranking army officer. On August 22, 1930, then a Lieutenant-Colonel, he overturned the eleven-year dictatorship of Augusto B. Leguía after a coup d'état took place in Arequipa.
