User talk:Samuel Curtis

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi Samuel Curtis, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions to the coolest online encyclopedia I know of =). I sure hope you stick around; we're always in need of more people to create new articles and improve the ones we already have. You'll probably find it easiest to start with a tutorial of how the wikipedia works, and you can test stuff for yourself in the sandbox. When you're contributing, you'll probably find the manual of style to be helpful, and you'll also want to remember a couple important guidelines. First, write from a neutral point of view, second, be bold in editing pages, and third, use wikiquette. Those are probably the most important ones, and you can take a look at some others at the policies and guidelines page. You might also be interested in how to write a great article and possibly adding some images to your articles.

Be sure to get involved in the community – you can contact me at my talk page if you have any questions, and you can check out the village pump, where lots of wikipedians hang out and discuss things. If you're looking for something to do, check out the community portal. And whenever you ask a question or post something on a talk page, be sure to sign your name by typing ~~~~.

Again, welcome! It's great to have you. Happy editing! --Spangineer (háblame) 18:54, Jun 13, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding spelling of "Mori" on Talk:Case Closed

"By WP:MOS-JP, both forms are incorrect; it should be Mōri. Samuel Curtis 07:13, 14 July 2006 (UTC)"

Not true - According to the MOS, "official naming" goes before the macronned form. VIZ Media romanizes her original name as "Ran Mori" WhisperToMe 18:40, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Case Closed RfC

It's getting dirty? Anyway, I won't mind an RFC on the naming convention, though I'm surprised one isn't there already. WhisperToMe 16:59, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

EDIT: Oh, the RFC is here User:Samuel Curtis/Case Closed RfC WhisperToMe 17:02, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

May I tweak the description of the RFC by adding:

  • The UK manga is published by Gollancz Manga
  • I know of no other English-language editions
  • The Latin American Spanish dub uses a new set of dub names, while the Spain dub and other known dubs use the Japanese names.

WhisperToMe 20:27, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

In my opinion, the first and the third point seemed redundent; the second can be added. You may add it now since appreantly no-one has commented on this RfC yet. Samuel Curtis 02:05, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I disambiguated the Soka universities

Please check my response to your discussion point on the Soka talk page, let me know if my changes work for you. I actually made the change and then read your comment suggesting approximately the same thing. --I think it works ;-) --Bobak 19:32, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your edits to Risperidone were deleted

It appears your careful edits to Risperidone were completely deleted. [1] on 2 November 2006 by User:195.93.21.70. I am hesitant to restore them, but I hope you can do so. JimmB 04:12, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

  • It's okay, I changed the policy that is completely anti-anti-psychiatrist. Since the original edit was with a anti-psychiatrist intention, it'd be better deleted. --Samuel Curtis-- TALK 04:26, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
  • HEY! You reverted my reversion of an apparent accidental deletion, leaving an incomplete sentence:
Risperidone is metabolised fairly quickly so this potential for <truncated>
Someone else fixed it again.
Also, As a lay person, the SAFETY RISKS and WARNINGS sections (which were deleted) are valuable! I wish you would put them back in some form. JimmB 19:00, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:ROKR E6.png

Thanks for uploading Image:ROKR E6.png. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Oden 22:25, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Teitan/Titan High

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Case_Closed&curid=298049&diff=96895524&oldid=96691535

The school is "Teitan" in the VIZ stories. WhisperToMe 08:43, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

I have Viz's version too-- but in any rate U7's edit was redundent-- two Teitan Elementary School. Moreover, we don't know what is used more, Viz or FUNimation's names.

[edit] About the discussion

Hmm... I would wait to see if one side really wants a decision now- then try a WP:RM WhisperToMe 02:50, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Well, we can ask now to gauge to see if people want WP:RM. WhisperToMe 09:30, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Mr. Curtis, I really do know a juggler named Travis Bear who was forced to resign from Egghead after being falsly accussed of stealing money from the safe. Check out www.oddcouplecoins.com Herbert Feldman is my father

I accept your explanation, but please include your context when you answer your talk. I haven't heard of who is Herbert Feldman or who is Travis Bear. --Samuel CurtisShinichian-Hirokian-- TALK·CONTRIBS 17:10, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Comments

I just added comments to you on Talk:Case_Closed#Vandalism.3F. I hear Funazaki himself doesn't want to damage the kids' idol, that's why he didn't bring this issue to the court. So I didn't intend to oppose you, but apparently you went too far this time. --1523 11:37, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] hey

Removal of your own signature at WP TALK:ANIME is not justified, do you know that? It implied that you want to hide your identity. --Samuel CurtisShinichian-Hirokian-- TALK·CONTRIBS 18:30, 26 February 2007 (UTC) if i did remove my id i did it by mistake. i did not mean for it to get to this point forgive me!--Lolicon(Anti Child Porn)Saikano 18:52, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Help in Japanese readings

{{helpme}} The case here is I am confronted with a controversial content addition, in which the editor who added it said it can fulfill WP:V requirements by merit of Japanese material. However, I don't know Japanese, and I can't verify its veracity, and no-one from the article's discussion offered help. What should I do? --Samuel CurtisShinichian-Hirokian-- TALK·CONTRIBS 14:23, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi Samuel, if the article is on a Japanese topic, is there a previous contributor to the article that might be able to help? If not you could try users in Category:User ja (specifically the more advanced ones), users at Wikipedia:Translators available#Japanese-to-English or possibly someone from Wikipedia:WikiProject Japan. Hope that helps, mattbr30 15:31, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Blogging and canvassing concerns

--Samuel CurtisShinichian-Hirokian-- TALK·CONTRIBS 12:52, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

I can see this is obviously upseting you, even though I'm not an administrator I've left some adivce there and hopefuly this helps]] but if it does not I'm sure a sysop would be able to help too. Happy editing! Tellyaddict 16:28, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, do you think you could find another user who he has insulted or made attacks against in other languages, if you could find the diffs and get a translation then if it turns out to be another insult against another user please leave me a message and then if then we could consider taking this to the Mediation Committee because at this stage, I do not think Arbitration is necessary but I do think the mediation committe would be the answer? Any thoughts and or comments? Tellyaddict 15:40, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
The other user insulted has been on that ANI thread now. --Samuel CurtisShinichian-Hirokian-- TALK·CONTRIBS 16:02, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Mhhh, I tell you what, maybe Mediatation is not the best answer (at the moment), I'll leave a formal warning using this template {{attack}} and an explanation before, if this user makes any other personal attacks or anytyhing dis-regarding policy please instantly leave me a comment and we'll take it from there....Regards - Tellyaddict 16:28, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
OK, I've left a level one warning attack warning on his talk page because you are not really meant to skip warnings, again I hope this helps and follow up if problems continue.Tellyaddict 16:48, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
