Hullo Sambazzi, welcome to Wikipedia.

I've been reverting some of your edits. We don't write Prophet Muhammad on Wikipedia -- capitalizing makes it seem as if Wikipedia were honoring Muhammad, and that would be POV, biased. Not all readers are going to be Muslim and welcome this sort of language. We can say, Muhammad, or the prophet Muhammad, or the Islamic prophet Muhammad. But no Prophets, PBUHs, SAWs, or any of the usual honorifics.

Just our house style <g>. Hope this doesn't hurt your feelings. Zora 12:11, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Ali born in the Kaaba

Sam, this is a claim made by Shi'a that is not supported by the earliest texts, IMHO. It doesn't belong in the first para. I created a breakout article to discuss it. You should go to that article, Birthplace of Ali ibn Abi Talib, where there's room to discuss at length.

Do you REALLY believe that the Kaaba is holy only because Ali was born there? This comes perilously close to justifying a common Sunni criticism of the Shi'a, that they disregard Muhammad and consider him only a precursor to Ali. Not that I'm a Sunni, but it just seems ... strange. Zora 23:53, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Birthplace of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib, Peace be upon him

Zora, that the Shiites believe that Ali was born inside the Kaabah does not mean that Ali is better than Muhammad, Peace be upon him and his family. Yes, the Shiites believe that Muhammad, Peace be upon him and his family, had declared "Ali and I were created from the same light." Yet they also belief that Ali had said "I am but one of the slaves of Muhammad." Indeed, the Shiites believe that "Muhammad" was the Word with which God created the Universes.

So Zora, what is the extent of your knowledge of Islam?

[edit] Honorifics, Mecca and Medina

It is NOT OK to capitalize "Prophet" when referring to Muhammad; "prophet" only. It is also NOT OK to replace Mecca with Makkah and Medina with Madinah. Mecca and Medina are the forms of the names that all English speakers recognize. It is accepted that different languages may have different names for major cities. For example, in French, London is Londres. Londres is perfectly good French, even if it differs from the British spelling. Please do not confuse readers. Zora 08:57, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Birthplace of Ali

Thank you Hottentot for the clarification about this page.

Zora, I have learned today that all Muslims, including Wahhabis, agree that Ali was born inside the Kaaba. I am in the process of investigationg this issue across the Muslim community. I'll keep you updated, God willing.
