Where is Sam Champion today? He has not been on the news in some time.

[edit] Sam Champion

He is gay and out: here's a reference from the New York Daily News: [1]

Let's not be depriving young gay people of positive gay role models, okay? Stop deleting the reference that he's gay. It's important. I'm not trolling.

[edit] Gay Designation

Isn't he then the only openly gay staffer of any morning news program? presumably? 72.43.213.236 19:38, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Source of Sam being openly gay

I have looked at the NY Daily News source provided in the article. The quote that allegedly says that he is gay is: "Weatherman Sam Champion and other gay power players turned out for the Empire State Pride Agenda dinner the other night." There is nothing that says that he openly admitted that he is gay, and to me,. the quote doesn't imply such. As such, I will remove the comment of him being openly gay, but I will add that he has supported the LGBT community.

Although I do find that he has effeminate mannerisms, you need to find a reliable source that says Champion has come out of the closet (and that would be publicized openly if that's the case). Otherwise, we don't want Wikipedia to be a source of potentially sladerous and inaccurate information—see what happened with John Seigenthaler, Sr.. Tinlinkin 07:46, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, his mannerisms do make you wonder...
