Samsung Plaza

Samsung Plaza (hangul:삼성플라자) is a shopping mall located in Seohyeon-dong, Bundang, Seongnam, South Korea right on the Seohyeon Station. The building is 98m high.[1]

Samsung Corporation (hangul:삼성물산) opened Samsung Plaza Store No. 1, a multi-functional shopping center. It is also equipped with diverse facilities such as the lobby, playrooms and cafes, plus facilities for the handicapped to heighten customer satisfaction. Samsung Plaza consists of a department store, specialty stores and cultural, educational and entertainment facilities. Its shopping area includes an interior decoration shop Home Deco, a British fashion underwear brand Marx Spencer, a sports shop Oshiman and other sections for foreign name brands.

For cultural facilities, there are a cinema with five screens, Game Center, a gallery, restaurants and Open Plaza. Others include the Public Service Center of Seongnam City Hall, medical and banking facilities in the General Living Information Center, Cultural Center offering 170 classes and the Information Room providing free rental services for books, video tapes and CDs to Samsung Plaza members. Samsung Plaza particularly runs a quality control system to improve the quality of sales items. Only fresh foods stocked on the day are sold. The Day Life New Center provides customers with consultations on products or services, which are not available at Samsung Plaza, and links them to suppliers. It also provides information on customers’ important events such as weddings, childbirth, funerals, traveling, vacations and anniversaries.

Samsung Plaza has grown substantially, the total sale of 1997 was 270 billion won and in 2004 it was, doubled, 540 billion won. In 2005, Bundang Samsung Plaza ranked 6th in amount of sales in South Korea. [2]
