The Samedi are a fictional minor independent bloodline of vampires from White Wolf Game Studio's Vampire: The Masquerade books and role-playing games, native to the Caribbean. All Samedi appear as rotting, decayed corpses. Much like the Nosferatu they are only able to interact with mortal society through use of the obfuscate discipline. Many Camarilla vampires view the mere existence of the Samedi as a breach of the Masquerade.
Although the actual origin of the Samedi is unknown, many suspect that they are descended from the Nosferatu or the Giovanni, neither has claimed the creation of these abominations. There are also strong links to the extinct Cappadocian clan, both being interested in death and sharing a similar discipline. Some Cappadocians were said to manifest appearances similar to the Samedi, the most famous being Troglodytia.
The Samedi often serve as Assassins, working for both the Camarilla and the Sabbat.
The founder of the bloodline is known only as The Baron and is believed to be the source of the vodoun spirit Baron Samedi. Along with their powers of Fortitude (unnatural endurance), Obfuscate(invisibilty) & Thanatosis (manipulation of the processes of aging and decay), many Samedi are accomplished Necromancers.
Rumors persist of some link between the Samedi and the mysterious Sabbat bloodline, the Harbingers of Skulls.
