Sam Morton

Sam Morton, born April 29, 1963, is the author of a 2006 fiction thriller titled Disavowed, published by Echelon Press of Laurel Creek, Maryland. A 1985 graduate of The Citadel, Sam is co-author of four fiction anthologies, Inkplots: Random Acts, of Writing, Buck Naked Unitarians and Other Humorous Tales of Faith, Black and Blue, and Read All Over, and Naughty and Nice. He is also author of Ramblings, a collection of his own short stories and poems. He has written speeches for corporate CEOs, local office holders, and political candidates. A former editor of Greater Columbia Business Monthly and the Florence Business Journal, he is an active freelance writer for several regional magazines including Columbia Metropolitan, Lake Murray magazine, Lexington Life, and Sandlapper. He is a member of The Inkplots Writers Group, a private assembly of published writers and authors active in South Carolina’s vibrant literary experience. His past occupations include a 12 year-stint as a robbery/homicide detective for the Richland County Sheriff’s Department in Columbia, S.C., a ten-year career as a professional wrestler, and one long week as the blade changer on the potato cutting machine at the Frito Lay plant in Charlotte, N.C. Currently, he is the editor of SC Medicine magazine and the public relations director for the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He resides in Columbia with his wife, Myra, and two children, Alexey and Nikki.
