Sam Kimber

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Samuel Jackson Kimber (October 29, 1854 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - November 7, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) was a 19th century Major League Baseball player who pitched only one full season, for the 1884 Brooklyn Atlantics of the American Association. He did pitch one more game for the 1885 Providence Grays of the National League, then never to pitch at the Major League level again.

On October 4, 1884, Kimber pitched the first extra-inning no-hitter against the Toledo Blue Stockings, a game that lasted ten innings and ended in a 0-0 tie when it was called because of darkness.

When he passed away, he was laid to rest at Westminster Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania.
