[edit] Rise to Stardom

He was born on October 17, 1992. Samuel Lawrence Lopez Concepcion, more widely known simply as Sam Concepcion was his name. His parents, Gene and Raymund Concepcion, had three other children, Sam’s older brothers Kuya Red (21) and Diko Kevin (20), and little sister Gabby (10). Like all of his family, Sam is musically inclined. Sam started singing and dancing at the age of two.

When Sam was five years old, he did a worship cantata, which soon landed him the role as the young Jose Rizal in Sino Ka Ba, Jose Rizal play. While playing the part of the young national hero he was discovered by his current manager, David Cosico. Sam’s manager urged him to join Trumpets Playshop, a Playshop where he can better his skills in singing, dancing, acting, and hosting. At the age of nine, Sam was already an accomplished performer and stage actor just like his dad. He played Edmund, the bad kid turned good, in the famous stage play The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. This was a big chance in Sam’s part because he has always played the “good guy.” His musical influences include Mr. Pure Energy, Gary Valenciano, Michael Jackson, Usher, and his Kuya Christian Bautista.

Sam had many TV appearances in the past, some of which were his popular commercial with his dad as the rapping kid in Maggi Sinigang sa Miso. He also appeared in some kid-friendly shows like Sineskwela at Hirayamanawari. While making TV appearances, he still very much active in theater performing with plays like Peterpan and the Time Machine, Ragnarok, and Mr. Noah’s Big Boat. Something other than performing, Sam also hosted ABC-5’s A.S.T.I.G. (All Set To Imitate God), a show where he told stories about God and worship. He hosted other shows as well. Later, Sam guested in Christian Bautista’s concerts like Heartfelt and Colour Everywhere.

Sam’s biggest break happened when he decided, with a little push from family and friends, to join Little Big Star, a singing talent search in ABS-CBN. He instantly became the crowds’ favorite and always was texters’ choice. He eventually won the search earning the title as The Brightest Star. Sam didn’t expect to win, but with the Samsters, what his fans collectively call themselves, he won by a landslide.

Soon after winning, Sam was offered many endorsements and projects. He now endorses Bench Tweeners, a clothing line for preteens. He has also become a magazine’s favorite, whether it be a cover or just a feature. In the September issue of Candy, Sam was announced as Candy Cuties’ Number One Cutie. He has also featured in magazines such as, K-Zone, Total Girl, YES!, Hi, Inside Showbiz, Star Studio and other leading magazines in the country.

Furthermore, Sam has achieved many other things such as Entertainment Konek's Male Crush ng Bayan awardee, KOTFA's "Best Folklore Performance Award" along with the Playshop kids, and Youth Ambassador for Education and the Arts in the Third District of Manila.

Currently, Sam is a mainstay in ASAP ’07 and Yspeak. He was also in the superserye Super Inggo as Boi Bawang, one of the main characters. He is also to star in Walang Kapalit as the young Piolo Pascual. Sam isto star in Beck, an anime musical tv show, as the voice of the main character Koyuki. Sam is also to release his debut album later this month (April).
