Sam Clancy, Jr. (born May 4, 1980 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is an American professional basketball player that currently plays for Inchon ET Land Blackslamer in South Korea. As of October 2006, he is signed with Vive Menorca in the Spanish pro basketball league. Previously, he was signed with the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers and Philadelphia 76ers; however he has never played a game for either team. He was injured as a member of the 76ers, and was waived by the Blazers. He has also played for the Russian team Unics Kazan, Grupo Capitol Valladolid, and the Idaho Stampede of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA).
Clancy, the son of former NFL star (and current Oakland Raiders assistant coach Sam Clancy, Sr.), was selected by the Sixers with the #45 pick (in the 2nd round) of the 2002 NBA Draft; however he missed his entire rookie season with a knee injury, and was waived by the team the following preseason. He has since played in the CBA and in Europe.
Clancy played collegiately at the University of Southern California, where he finished as USC's all-time leader in blocked shots (195). He is third all-time at USC in points (1,657), second in rebounds (839), and fifth in steals (134). In 2002 he was the Pac-10 Player of the Year.
In July 2005, Clancy was drafted with the first pick by the Mankato Mallards of the All-American Professional Basketball League, but never played a game because the league folded later that year.
In October 2005, Clancy was signed to a one-year contract by the Trail Blazers but was waived before ever playing a game for them.
