[edit] Hi Again Rob

I've taken the liberty of moving all past message to you into an archive. If this is not to your liking, please let me know I will put things back.

In any case, I see you've been busy today. With that, I will point to my boomarks User:Jessemonroy650#WikiBookmarks. Amoung the links you will find, WP:Cite and Wikipedia:Footnotes both are guidelines to Citations and Footnotes, respectively, then to the page on Wikipedia:Guide_to_layout and the section Wikipedia:Guide_to_layout#Standard_appendices.

For Capuchino High School I've changes Sources to References, as per guidelines. But also, here I duplicate the 'Standard Appendices' for illustration.

  1. Notes
  2. References (or combined with "Notes" into Notes and references)
  3. See also
  4. Further reading (or Bibliography)
  5. External links

I repeat these here so that you can see two (2) articles using these methods.

1) Canthaxanthin is a simple article I completed to clarify another article. On this article, I don't plan any more work. Next, you should note almost every sentence has a footnote reference. This is my style, and not something suggested by Wikipedia:guidelines. So this is an example, completed and you can use for basic reference.

2) Ohlone is a work near completion. There are 3 persons working on this article daily, and another half dozen making various small changes. On the Talk:Ohlone page, you'll note this part of two (2) other projects, Wikipedia:WikiProject_California and Wikipedia:WikiProject_Indigenous_peoples_of_North_America. Those persons, none known to us, has about two (2) dozen people making changes to Category, Quality and Importance. They work independent of us three (3), and we note their involvement when they make changes to our article.

The goal of all editors is to get the best articles we can, given our time, constraints and efforts. Your contributions are appreciated by all.

On the Ohlone article, you'll note extensive footnotes. The topic is not contraversial, but should it every be, all our bases are covered. We write nothing without a citation. This is tough work, but these natives to the SF Bay Area deserve an even hand in history. Such is our efforts.

On the Talk:Ohlone, you'll note a section labeled Please Read. This section contains our notes on 'Ohlone Book Reviews and Research Aid', a 'village stub' (over 50 noted, not all finish) and 'Unresolved issues'. This topic 'Ohlone' will cover about 30+ sub-articles when we finish. We also expect about 2 years to complete. Should anyone of us expire (for whatever reason) the other, or future editors, can continue the work, by seeing and knowing our decisions.

On your writing, I suggest nothing like this. I just point to this to show how some of us work.

Lastly, I will point to my personal http://www.didgood.com/ , and I will also point to [my personal book collection]. Although a modest 350 odd books, another 50-70 have not been entered into the database which creates this page. Both these links should give you an idea of my personality. I am especially proud of my work on Mad Cow and Salmon, both continuing works.

I work today, Wensday. Have a good day. Say hi to all. --meatclerk 08:25, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:JanPeerce.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:JanPeerce.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] License tagging for Image:MasterworksChorale.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:MasterworksChorale.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:10, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Nancy.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Nancy.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 22:02, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Burlingame High School

Thanks for contributing to the Burlingame High article. Unfortunately it looks like nearly all of your additions are copied directly from http://www.smuhsd.k12.ca.us/bhs/bhsnew/schoolinfo_pages/about_bhs.htm. Despite the lack of a copyright notice on their website, copyright protection is assumed in the absence of an indication otherwise. Please consider rewriting the material in your own words, otherwise the material will be removed. Driving Directions fall under "how-to" and are not allowed per WP:NOT#IINFO. Discussion on the talk page [1] please. Thanks Zedla 03:04, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use images

Hello! I thought I'd let you know that two images which you uploaded do not seem to have correct licensing information. On both Image:Beecham.jpg and Image:Beecham2.jpg you asserted that the image was being used to illustrate the album in question because you used the {{albumcover}} template, but this is not true for either image. They are used to illustrate the article about the conductor. You did not provide a detailed fair-use rationale for these images as stated by the template. Please say, on the image description pages, why Wikipedia is entitled to use each of these images. Keep up your good work editing Wikipedia! Best wishes, RobertG ♬ talk 13:30, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Monteux

Most valuable additions - warmest thanks. I have taken the liberty of merging your RCA notes with the top of the 'recordings' paragraph, to avoid duplication. Do, please, re-amend if I have distorted anything you wrote. (En passant, I was brought up on Monteux's San Francisco recording of the Siegfried Idyll, which still lingers in my ear as the way to do it.) - Tim riley 20:00, 14 February 2007 (UTC) I was not fortunate to hear Monteux conduct. He was music director of the San Francisco Symphony from 1935 to 1952 and only returned once as a guest conductor, in 1960, when he also recorded Siegfried Idyll and Richard Strauss' Death and Transfiguration. I really became familiar with Monteux through his recordings for RCA Victor, including the 1941 recording of Scheherezade on the original 78-rpm discs. From everything I've heard, he was an incredible conductor, much admired by musicians and fellow conductors. Even Toscanini admired Monteux and allowed him, and Artur Rodzinski, to rehearse the NBC Symphony in 1937, before the historic first concert Toscanini conducted on the evening of December 25. His influence has continued through the many conductors he trained. Sallyrob 17:27, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome

Hi, Sallyrob, and welcome to WikiProject
San Francisco Bay Area
!

We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying, categorizing, and improving articles relevant to the Bay Area. Here are some points that may be helpful:

  • Our main aim is to help improve Bay Area-related articles, so if people ask for help with an article, please try your hardest to help them if you are able.
  • Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page. It is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
  • The project has several ongoing and developing activities, such as article quality assessment, which you are welcome to participate.
  • Our system for improving lower-quality articles is Jumpaclass. If you'll be editing stub, start, or B-class articles, consider using Jumpaclass to track your progress.
  • If you have another language besides English, please consider adding yourself to our translation section, to help us improve our foreign Bay Area topics.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

Again, welcome! We hope you enjoy working on this project.

[edit] Bay Area history

Hi,

You noted an interest in Bay Area history, so I wanted to alert you to the newly-created History of the Bay Area page, in case you'd like to contribute. Thanks!

[edit] Jumpaclass

This is an invitation to use WP:BAY's Jumpaclass option for improving articles. If you're working on any Bay Area-related stub, start, or B-class articles, simply add their names to the list, and if any of the articles improve a class within a week, you'll be recognized for your contributions. If you have any questions about how it works, post on the talk page or on mine. Thanks for reading! — Emiellaiendiay 21:39, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
