Salvatorian College

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Salvatorian College is a Roman Catholic grant maintained school comprehensive school for boys aged 11-16 situated in the Borough of Harrow, in Middlesex, in the Trusteeship of the Society of the Divine Saviour. The school was founded in 1926 by an international Roman Catholic religious society known as the Society of the Divine Saviour (Societas Divini Salvatoris).

The school serves a wide catchment area of North London, with the majority of pupils transferring from primary schools in Harrow but with significant numbers also coming from the boroughs of Brent and Barnet. All pupils now transfer at age 11 and no longer at 12. The Salvatorian Fathers hold the trusteeship of the school and remain committed to the school by involvement in the work of the Governing Body and Chaplaincy. The teaching staff of 39.6 (full time equivalent) is 60% Catholic, while the pupil population of 661 is 96.4% Catholic. The pupils come from a wide background and represent a rich ethnic mix with 39% with ethnic classification other than White British. The entitlement to free school meals is 11.2% of pupils.

The school has a very clear Mission Statement, which is reflected in the school’s policies, practices and daily life: ‘To build up a strong Christ- centred community helping the individual on his faith journey. To assist every individual in realising his full potential academically, physically and socially. To strengthen bonds between home, parish and school providing a preparation for the pupil’s entry into the wider community.’
