[edit] Salterbeck Workington
Salterbeck is a largely council housing estate on the South side of Workington. It has a population of about 5,000 people. Salterbeck has had its fair share of crime, but the Salterbeck ACE commitee is helping the community from it, and its working. In previous years no one from Salterbeck dare to enter the estate in fear of having their car vandalised or stolen.
Salterbeck is bordered by Westfield and Mossbay to the North, and Harrington to the South. The East of Salterbeck is where most of the Council houses have been bought and is now a private residential area. Also Eastern Salterbeck is one of the most popular places to live in Workington with house prices there being high.
To the centre of Salterbeck is a big field which is known to the locals as "the back field". It had a park but due to vandalism it was set on fire and pieces of the park were stolen. It also has a rugby pitch where the local amateur rugby league team Salterbeck Storm play.
