Salofalk

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Salofalk is a medicinal drug used primarily as an anti-inflammatory agent in the treatment and maintenance of ulcerative colitis and less commonly, in Crohn's disease, which are both types of inflammatory bowel disease It is used in mild to moderate cases of these diseases. Its effects are arguably limited, paling in comparison to the anti-inflammatory effects of other drugs such as prednisone. It is therefore most often used to keep a medical condition that causes inflammation, such as inflammatory bowel disease, under control after primrary treatment with stronger drugs. Salofalk has few common side effects, making it ideal for use in situations where highly effective but side-effect-laden drugs are not necessary but some kind of anti-inflammatory agent is. Salofalk comes in the forms of tablets, suppositories and rectal suspension.
