Salmon class submarine

The Salmon class of United States Navy submarines were an incremental improvement over the Porpoise class, and were in turn almost immediately superseded by the Sargo class.

  • Powerplant: 4 x 1375 hp (1025kW) General Motors (Snapper, Stingray, & Sturgeon) or H.O.R. (Salmon, Seal, & Skipjack) diesel engines, 2 x 1650 hp (1230kW) Elliott Motor electric motors
  • Range: 11,800 nautical miles (21,900 km) at 10 knots (19 km/h) surfaced
