Salma Shah

Salma Shah is a British Bollywood actress and Shia Muslim. She was born in Burnley on 19 July 1984 and grew up in the North-West. Her Bollywood career began with the film Monsoon Madness. Her appearance in a white sari became an iconic image among Asian students. Many of her films have been directed by Mira Nair. Especially notable performances include the Hindi Wedding series of films and a stage performance in Shakespeare's King Lear.

Her prominence in the UK grew after she was allegedly mugged outside Heathrow Airport. A number of bystanders then performed a citizen's arrest. Miss Shah's clothes somehow became covered in paint during the struggle. This was strangely reminiscent of an incident involving Brian Mawhinney in the 1990s.

After this incident she co-operated with Shilpa Shetty on a number of British based Bollywood productions.

She now lives in South London and is active in Conservative Politics. She has won the best dressed female parliamentary researcher competition six times.

Shah has shunned her early life as a member of the gentry in Pakistan due to a a rocky relationship with her exiled father Prince Hussien Shah.

It was reported in Tejaswini Ganti's book Bollywood that her favourite biscuits are ginger nuts.

Shah is afraid of mice and is a known handbag addict.
