Sally Polihronas

Sally Polihronas (born June 22, 1976) is an Australian entertainer. She grew up as a trained dancer, but shot to fame as a member of the successful female pop group Bardot. Polihronas currently resides in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Polihronas was born in Adelaide, Australia. Her family has a Greek heritage, Polihronas being a serious follower of the Greek Orthodox religion. She began taking Greek dancing lessons, which her mother taught, at a young age. At the age of 11, she joined the Johnny Young Talent School and worked for Disney, modelled youth fashion parades and doing various forms of theatre. She studied tap dance, jazz and classical ballet, and worked as a professional dancer in various shows from pantomimes to cabaret shows. She studied at The Dance Factory in Melbourne and performed overseas in cabaret shows. Her love of music also lead her to dancing in clubs as a freestyler for five years, developing all dance styles including retro, dance and R&B.

Polihronas then moved to Sydney after auditioning and successful gaining a spot in the Popstars television creation, Bardot, a five piece vocal girl group. The group experienced huge success in both Australia and overseas, Polihronas experiencing the industry first hand with tours, recording sessions, film clips, television and media. Bardot's number one self titled debut album reached double platinum sales in both Australia and New Zealand and went gold in several parts of Asia. Their second album Play It Like That, in which Polihronas co-wrote two songs, also reached gold status. During their two and a half years together, the group performed for crowds at the ARIA Music Awards, MTV Music Awards, Rumba festivals, the UK's SMTV, Top of the Pops and Live and Kicking, the Bollywood Film Awards, East Timor and Australia's annual Carols by Candlelight. Since the group's split in 2002, Polihronas has kept out of the public spotlight unlike the other members who have all released solo material. As a singer-songwriter, she is currently working on her solo project but there is currently no release date. Polihronas also teaches full-time at a number of Sydney dance schools and is a celebrity columnist for music magazine, Pop Republic. Every month, she writes a behind the scenes industry column titled, "Pop Goddess".
