[edit] Story
[edit] Cars movie
Sally, Lightning McQueen's love interest, is the town attorney of Radiator Springs. She came to the town several years before when she found that the big city life (she had been an attorney in Los Angeles, California) was not to her liking and she was never really happy there but one day she made a run for it. She drove for quite some time until she finally broke down in front of the Wheel Well Motel. She was fixed up by Doc Hudson and taken in by Flo. Sally then fell in love with the town, and the land around it, and never left.
Sally ran the Cozy Cone Motel until close to the end of the movie, when she and Lightning reopened the Wheel Well.
Throughout the movie, Lightning and Sally's relationship goes from rocky to affectionate, starting with his overly strong come-ons and ending with him finally realizing there is something he wants more in his life than the Piston Cup.
[edit] Cars video game
Sally's interest in McQueen continues in the video game follow-up. McQueen resides at the Cozy Cone during his stays in Radiator Springs. Prior to the 1st Piston Cup race of the season, Sally asks McQueen to go for a drive, but is interrupted by Mia and Tia (aka the Lightning groupies), who are now working at Flo's V8 Café (thus increasing the number of residents to 18, counting Dusty and Rusty Rust-eze, and Mack) and once again McQueen's "biggest fans" after Chick Hicks, whom they supported for a time, cheated in order to win the 2005 Piston Cup. Irritated by the interruption, Sally challenges the twins to a race, in which Flo also takes part just for fun.
Later on, Sally gets to take her drive with Lightning, but once again it becomes a racing competition. Afterwards, they reminisce about their first trip to the Wheel Well where she and Mcqueen stop at the place where Sally and Lightning talked in the movie. They look at the beatiful view all over Radiator Springs and its strech of Route 66: the mother road and its part of Carburator County.
Following Lightning's attainment of the Piston Cup, Sally decides to accompany McQueen and Mater on a celebratory cross-country trip. She asks if Lightning remembered to pack his trophy, to which he replies he left it in a good place (in Doc Hudson's clinic next to the legend's own three cups).
Sally is also playable in Arcade Mode and VS. Mode. If you play her in arcade or vs mode she has pharses like "Pushy Pushy Pushy!","Wait before Beauty!" if she goes inside or falls back if she bumps into the wall she says somthing like "Uh oh! Watch out!" but if you bump her very hard on the wall she can say something or scream!
[edit] Toys
Sally is a product in the Mattel die-cast-car line(1.55). This character has no variations though she is released 3 ways.
[edit] Trivia
- Sally's last name (Carrera) comes from her car model, a 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera (Type 996). "Carrera" is meaning "race" in Spanish.
- Sally's license plate number is 301PCE.
- The Porsche 911 Carrera has a spoiler that normally only rises at highway speeds, but at one point in the movie, Sally purposefully lifts her tailfin to show off a pinstriped tramp stamp style tattoo beneath, which Lightning notices and points out.
- In the videogame Sally always has her spoiler lifted up.
- In the UK cars magazine Top Gear, Sally was included in the magazine's list of the 10 sexiest cars in the World.[1]
- Pixar originally wanted a classic model, but Porsche wanted them to use a 2002 model. However, the 996 would be succeeded by the 997 before Pixar could finish the movie (note Sally's "melted" headlamps compared to the 997's classic rounded shape).
- Sally, the former LA lawyer, is a Porsche - pronounced to sound like "Portia," the female lawyer in Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice
