The Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is situated in the island of Chorao along river Mandovi near Panaji. A variety of local and migratory birds can be found on this island. The sanctuary is named after one of India's most prominent ornithologists, Dr. Salim Ali.

Some of the birds that can be commonly spotted in this sanctuary are as follows:

  1. Black Faced Cormorant
  2. Stork
