Salfords railway station serves the village of Salfords in Surrey including the industrial complexes in Honeycrock Lane and the Bonehurst Road. It is on the Brighton Main Line, and train services are provided by Southern and Southeastern.

The typical service from the station during the day is one train per hour to London Bridge, and one train per hour to Horsham. There are services to London Victoria at peak times and in the evenings.

A Sunday service is only available for six months over the Summer period.

[edit] Future developments

The station will join the Thameslink route upon the completion of the Thameslink 2000 project and will add a hourly or half hourly service to the route, although it is unclear if this will add extra services or just extend the current services that terminate at London Bridge. This will require the platforms to be extended at the station.

December 2006: The footbridge spanning all four main lines is being overhauled until July 2007. A temporary footbridge has been constructed by Network Rail to transfer passengers from the island platform 2 to platform 1.

[edit] History

Salfords station was originally built for the Monotype Corporation, which had constructed a factory next to the railway line in 1899. Beside the footbridge on the East side, an advertisement for Monotype is still in situ, although it is hidden by trees.
